Master in Church Planting (30 credits)
The Master of Church Planting (MCP) program is designed to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary to establish and grow new churches effectively. The program combines theological education with practical church planting strategies and leadership training.
Courses
CP101: Introduction to Church Planting (3 credits)
This course provides an overview of church planting, including biblical foundations, historical perspectives, and current trends. Students will explore the role of church planting in global missions and the challenges faced by church planters.
CP202: Theology of Church Planting (3 credits)
Students will examine the theological underpinnings of church planting, including biblical mandates, ecclesiology, and the missional nature of the church. The course emphasizes understanding church planting from a biblical and theological perspective.
CP303: Strategic Planning and Vision Casting (3 credits)
This course covers the principles and practices of strategic planning for new church plants. Students will learn to develop a clear vision, set goals, create actionable plans, and assess the viability of church planting initiatives.
CP404: Contextualization and Community Analysis (3 credits)
Students will study methods for analyzing and understanding the cultural, social, and demographic contexts in which new churches are planted. This course focuses on contextualization strategies that align with the local community's needs and values.
CP505: Church Planting Models and Methods (3 credits)
This course explores various church planting models and methodologies. Students will examine successful case studies and learn about different approaches to planting churches, including traditional, house church, and multi-site models.
CP606: Leadership and Team Building (3 credits)
Effective leadership and team dynamics are crucial for church planting. This course will address leadership styles, team building, conflict resolution, and how to recruit and train leaders for new church plants.
CP707: Preaching and Teaching for Church Plants (3 credits)
Students will develop skills in preaching and teaching tailored to new church contexts. The course includes practical training in sermon preparation, delivery, and engaging diverse audiences.
CP708: Church Planting Finances and Fundraising (3 credits)
This course covers the financial aspects of church planting, including budgeting, fundraising strategies, and financial management. Students will learn how to develop a financial plan and secure resources for their church plant.
CP709: Church Planting and Evangelism (3 credits)
Focuses on effective evangelism strategies within the church planting context. Students will explore methods for outreach, discipleship, and building a sustainable evangelistic culture in new churches.
CP710: Practical Church Planting Experience (3 credits)
Students will participate in a supervised church planting internship or practicum, applying their learning in a real-world setting. This course includes mentorship and reflection on the church planting experience.
